Hope Prison Ministries, Inc., is a small, non-profit organization under section 501(c)3 of the IRS code.  It is a small ministry tackling some very, large projects, one of which is providing assistance to those who are trying to locate transitional housing for a loved one about to be released from jail or prison.

Due to insufficient funding, however, Hope Prison Ministries must request a one-time donation to help cover the costs associated with the research time it takes to review your application and to provide you with appropriate recommendations.  ($300 for sex offenders; $150 for all others).

It should be noted that the most significant factors affecting our ability to locate transitional housing for your loved one are 1) the availability of financial support for the offender after they are released and 2) the specific details of your loved one’s criminal history.  It often takes an average of 60 days for an ex-offender to find employment; education and/or a trade can help but 60 days is an average.  This means that your loved one will require significant financial help from somewhere or it can be very, very difficult to locate food, clothing, shelter and transportation.  This inevitably extends the time it takes for them to find employment, and increases the likelihood of returning to the very activities that led to their incarceration in the first place.

The importance of those who are willing to become actively involved in not just the physical, spiritual, mental, emotional and financial support of the ex-offender but also in providing mentoring and accountability cannot be overstated.  Perhaps even more important than the efforts we will make to locate transitional housing for your loved one, then, is the effort we will make to find a church that is willing to at least try to provide this kind of support to your loved one.  We will only do this upon request, however, so if you think your loved one will benefit from this type of help then please indicate that they desire such on the application.

Please note: The application will not be processed until after the required donation has been received.  It may be given online or sent by mail to the following address (money orders or cashier’s checks should be made payable to):
